Any individual may donate. Donations through Valley Gives are received and receipted by Razoo Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) charity that operates a donor advised fund.
The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum donation limit. Donations are tax-deductible and irrevocable (donations will not be refunded). Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only.
100% of your donation is tax-deductable. Nonprofit organizations will receive over 95% of your donation. The 4.9% deducted covers the Razoo platform cost and credit card fees. There is no fee to the nonprofit to participate in Valley Gives.
To participate, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations must be based in the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts (Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties) AND primarily serve the community in the region. If an organization does not meet both of these criteria, they must fund and manage ongoing programs in these three counties.
For an organization to participate, they first must register with the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. To do so, please visit the Nonprofit Toolkit or email valleygives[at]communityfoundation.org with questions.
There is no maximum to the amount an organization may receive.
A donor may apply for a matching grant from their employer if eligible, but only gifts made on Valley Gives day will count towards totals. Matching grants will not be included in that amount.
Organizations can track donations in real-time and have access to donor names and contact information, unless the donor chooses to make an anonymous contribution. As host of Valley Gives, the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts will receive a list of the cities and zip codes of donors who participated in Valley Gives 2013. This information is used solely to evaluate the success of Valley Gives and to help in planning for Valley Gives 2014.The Community Foundation or partner organizations will not collect Valley Gives donor information.
A unique donor is identified by their unique email address entered at the time of the donation transaction. If you donate to the same nonprofit multiple times, you will be counted as a unique donor for the first donation transaction. If you plan to donate to multiple organizations you will be counted as unique for the first donation to each organization page based on the entered email address.
