Baystate Health's charitable mission is to improve the health of the people in our communities every day, with quality and compassion.
In this season of giving and hopefully special time with family and friends, we are sharing a story from one of our Baystate families – a story that conveys depth of compassion and caring. Laura Morris, Nurse Practitioner at Baystate Wing Hospital shared the following personal story:
As new parents, my husband Jeff and I learned that our son, Andrew, was born with a benign tumor on his head and at just three months old he underwent surgery at Baystate Children’s Hospital. He recovered fully and a short seven years later, we received the devastating news that our daughter Morgan “Momo,” then age two, had acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The diagnosis was our family's worst nightmare. The doctors and nurses at Baystate supported us every step of the way giving us hope and options. Momo had several inpatient stays during her treatment, each time making new friends while growing up in the medical world. Today, both of our children are healthy, active and very appreciative for the care they received.
Baystate Health has saved our children's lives and the gift they have given us is priceless. We are committed to raising awareness of this gem in our backyard and to supporting Baystate Health Foundation raise money to continue the services of this top-notch hospital--a small token of our appreciation.
Please help us do more to positively impact the lives of our patients and their families by making Baystate Health your charity of choice. Your gift can support the areas of greatest needs throughout our health system and may be allocated for operations, equipment, education, research, or specific resources needed for patient care.
