“I can speak better and people understand.” Sengkry
“CNA is a good place for learning English because we are all learning together.” Estuardo
“Now, I can read books because my vocabulary is better.” Dan
Imagine leaving family and friends behind and moving to a new community in the U.S. Imagine how lonely and isolated you feel ... until you can speak English. Then, doors open.
Center for New Americans (CNA) has been welcoming and serving immigrants in Western Massachusetts for over 20 years.
We offer classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) ranging from beginner to high intermediate. We also teach computer skills; Bridges classes to help students acquire skills to work in local growth industries, and coaching in citizenship preparation.
All classes are free.
Center for New Americans also offers assistance with citizenship and some other immigration applications; with education and career advising; and with referrals to healthcare, housing, and other resources.
Once they can speak English, our students secure better jobs, obtain driver's licenses, start their own businesses, purchase a house, help children in school.
Thank you for joining us in welcoming newcomers. As one of our 30 Poems! writers noted: "We are all immigrants!"
