Working in partnership with the community to alleviate hunger in Franklin County.
For thirty years, FCCMP has been working with volunteers to feed the hungry in our community. Operating three meal sites that serve five nutritious meals each week, our program will serve 20,000 free meals by the end of this year.
FCCMP also operates two food pantries: one on the campus of GCC for students and their families, and one in Orange for residents of Franklin County and the surrounding area. Last year we distributed more than 120,000 pounds of food, enough to provide each family with 3-5 days of food. As funding programs are cut, a greater demand is placed on programs such as ours to provide food assistance to people in need.
I first met with Susan S. the week before Thanksgiving when she visited our Orange pantry for the first time. She has lived her whole life on a farm - she grows her own food and she lives in a converted train station she has renovated by herself. Susan broke down in tears as she told me that her much-loved grandchildren were being sent to stay with her for the holidays. "I barely have enough food for me," she said, "how will I ever feed two hungry teenagers and make a holiday meal?" I assured her we would help her meet that need.
Susan felt lucky to have found us. We feel fortunate to have found YOU, our loyal and generous donors. Your support will allow us to continue to meet the need of our hungry neighbors, neighbors whose numbers continue to grow each week.
*A donation of $12 will help provide 2 evening meals at one of our meal sites for people like Susan and her grandchildren.
*A donation of $30 will provide 5 days of bag lunches for 3 people and will help celebrate our 30 years of providing free meals to our neighbors in need.
*A donation of $50 will help us buy 250 pounds of food from the Food Bank of Western MA to help stock our pantry shelves (it typically takes 2,200 pounds of food each week for us to have sufficient food on hand to distribute).
FCCMP is funded largely by the generosity of neighbors helping neighbors. Please reach out your hand to help your neighbor in need by making a donation to our program.
