GTC is a dynamic food justice organization based in Springfield focused on youth development and urban agriculture. Join us!

Do you care about Springfield and want to support young people in building positive leadership and life skills?

Do you want to do your part to create a vibrant, just food system that works for all of us?

Do you see an abandoned lot and imagine what good things could grow there?

If you answered YES, then consider a gift to Gardening the Community, a food justice organization based in Springfield dedicated to youth development, urban agriculture and sustainable living. We grow food, leadership and community.

“I like being able to grow food in my community with my friends…. I think I have better relationships with my friends, have learned self responsibility, and am more aware of food justice and gardening than before.” GTC Youth participant, 2012

“I see my son becoming more responsible, caring more about what he eats, and being interested in the types of produce we grow in our community; GTC has really brightened his outlook on the world. I am grateful to have my son be part of a group that is helping me teach him how to become not just a young man, but also a leader. GTC shows him there are plenty of good and rich things that come from our community.” Tasha, GTC parent, 2012

Third Sector New England is our fiscal sponsor.

GTC has been around for 11 years, touching the lives of more than 300 youth and countless other adults. For many years we were a small program that operated only during the growing season.

During the past two years, we have grown to a year round program serving more youth and playing a leadership role in Springfield’s growing food justice movement. Being able to sustain this level of impact requires that we grow our community funding base. Valley Gives is an amazing opportunity to do just that!

We promise to use any gift you give us with integrity and passion!
