Since inception in 1967, the college has served as major resource for the economic vitality of Western Massachusetts. The college serves over 7,000 students each year and provides over 100 degree options and career certificates. As we look to the future the long-term economic development success of the region is dependent on our ability to take systematic steps to develop a globally competitive workforce.

The college recognizes that our region currently faces threatening workforce challenges including a migration of our younger population out of the region, slowing population growth, and an aging workforce preparing for retirement.
